Lars Mikkelsen3-765x1024He began his studies at the National Theatre School of Denmark at the age of 27. He graduated in 1995. He also appeared in The Killing, a drama series that aired worldwide. Then, he appeared in Borgen III and Those Who Kill two critically well-known Danish dramas. He also played the lead role in an episode of the BBC drama Sherlock as blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. He was the president of Russia in House of Cards, an American television show. He received an International Emmy Award in 2018 in recognition of his role in Danish television drama Herrens Veje. This series was broadcast in the UK as Ride Upon the Storm in 2019. He has stated that he and his brother began learning English through studying and listening to the Monty Python songs.
